Safer Internet Day 2016

10th February 2016
Yesterday the children in Key Stage 2 took part in Safer Internet Day 2016. This is a day where we consider how we can use the internet safetly and also what we can do to make the internet a safer place. In the lead up to Safer Internet day, Mr Philp had done a range of assemblies that looked at some of the issues with using the internet, such as how do you know a website is true and accurate, and what to do if someone else dislikes what you do on the internet.

In the video below, Becky makes some bad choices with how she uses the internet. It is well worth watching with your Key Stage 2 child and talking with them about what information they have that is public and accessible to strangers.
Also you could have a look at this fake website about the tree octopus. Discuss with your child how you know it might be fake and what you need to look for to find out whether something is true or not.
